Schools Almost HERE!!!!!

Schools Almost HERE!!!!!

July 20, 2010

GUESS WHAT EVERYONE!!! SCHOOL IS ALMOST IN!!!
Yes, I am that type of loser that is overly excited for school. But then again, break has gone by quick.

So what have I been up to?

Glad you asked?

1) Work
Thanks to my awesome resume, I landed a job at the Social Security Administration Office in Lakewood Ohio. It’s a fab place. I get to deal with people and learn the ins and outs of federal government from a public social service side. I’ve been making good money and networking with several people. I’ve got to meet several co-workers who just also happen to be B-W Alum. It’s really cool to chat about the school and hear their stories about back in the day.

2) Lady Gaga Concert
My Lovely GF bought me a ticket to the Lady Gaga Concert in Cleveland which just happened to be on our 2 year anniversary. I like the music, but I’m not a hardcore fan like some. Anyways, THE CONCERT WAS AWESOME!!! One of the best concerts I have been to. Not only can she (Lady Gaga…, Lady Gaga) can sing, but she can perform as well. So that was a blast!

3) GRE Studying and School Shopping
So I’m a Senior and I’m losing my mind as bad as I did when I was a Junior in Highschool who was undergraduate shopping (This is similar to my freshie and soph readers). Well folks, Grad school shopping is far worse. It’s not as “easy” as undergrad was. I am looking at three schools so far. I am looking at Mercyhurst in Erie,PA for their Masters in Intelligence Studies program. I am looking at Kent State for thier Masters of Justice Studies program. Lastly, I am looking at CSU for their Masters of Public Administration program. To top it all off… I have to study the GRE. Think of the ACT and SAT, now think of it about 6 years later when the material has evaporated from your brain… Welcome to my world. I’ve spent some nights pounding my head into the computer desk (figuratively, not literally). This just is painful

4) Internship/RA’ing/Greek Life Planning
Well Ladies and Gents, I’ll be working at an Internship when School starts. I’ve got my paperwork mostly done, worked with my faculty advisor, and met with the place I will be interning at. EXCITING!!!! Also, as some may or may not remember. I will be one of the two RAs on the Third floor of North Hall. So watch out kiddos, there’s a new sheriff in town ;p I also have been working hard with the Greek Life Recruitment Team. The team as a whole have been planning on recruitment activities, guidelines, and other random things. It’s been a lot of work, but it’s been fun as well.

5) PAINTBALLL!!!!!
Yes, my passion. I love paintball, if you don’t believe me go and read my 300000000 other blog posts. It’s nice to be free from school and other random things. I get to enjoy paintball every other weekend and get to have fun. Paintball to me is something that no matter what is going on, for those few hours you are out there paintballing, all is good in the world. I got to go on my annual trip out to PA for a large paintball event. It was mind melting good. I have gone to this every year since I’ve started College. It allows me to decompress fully and relax really really well before school starts.

So my readers, school is starting. It’s starting soon. Better get your booklist completed, do some reading, and lastly enjoy what is left of this awesome summer.

See you all around!

Enjoy some pics as well :)

O Hai There End of the Year!

May 8, 2010

Hey all, it’s been a while. How about that?
Anyways, I’m chilling here at lovely B-Dubs, when everyone is mostly gone. I’m here at extended stay with some other people ushering for graduation. So I get to stay a tad bit longer and see my friends graduate… Two awesome perks of being an usher.

So what has happened since last time?

1) Formal
I had my Fraternity’s spring formal and it’s also the senior send off formal. It’s sad to see some great guys graduate. Guys that you look up to, respect, gain wisdom from, or in my case, annoy them as much as you can. It was a great night to dance, have a meal, and just bro out.

2) Finals
Finals are some very scary things. I had a final everyday, minus Friday of this week. It’s extremely stressful. For the most part, everything went well. So I’m a happy camper.

3)Moving Out
So there are two times of the year where it is mass chaos here at B-W. The first being move-in, the second being move-out. You see so many people who are maniacs moving tons of crap out. People please, don’t bring so much when you move in. A ton more of things will accumulate here on campus and there’s going to be so much junk to take back home. I’m taking a futon that I ended up with back home to use for next semester. So that should be exciting. So for the most part, everything is out of my room. Just minor things here and there to take out for tomorrow.

4) Summer Job/Internship maybe?
I have applied to several places over the summer for employment. I will probably be working a few days in the admissions office, but for the most part I will be job hunting. I have interviewed at several places and so far it all looks good. So wish me the best on that…

5) Summer!
I have some plans for the summer. So let’s list them and see if I complete them.
- Go on a roadtrip
I would like to roadtrip it to Canada with some friends over break and just relax
-Go to EMR Paintball in PA
Every year, some buddies of mine and myself go on a trip to PA for this massive paintball event. It’s a really cool trip to do, so I hope to get that done again.
-Go to Indiana for UIFI (The Undergraduate Fraternity Institute)
I’m scheduled to go to Indiana for UIFI which is a large conference for those who are in the Greek Life community.
-Have fun
It’s summer, no school. Just enjoy life, ya know!

So have a good summer break. To the new B-W’ers who are coming to BW, HOPE TO SEE YOU!!!!

It’s Wednesday!!!

April 28, 2010

Hey all,
I’ve been so busy this week. These professors have this thing for making everything due the week before finals…. Seriously, Why?

Anyways, I had two papers, a project, and a presentation. I am just glad that it is over.

April Reign was this past weekend. It’s a large field day event and different organizations put a team together for the different events. After all the events are said and done, there’s a concert. This year it was Hello Goodbye. I didn’t get the chance to make the concert, but I got some work done. So it’s all good for me.

Some pics as always…. Also a shout out to Maria Carbenia…. She’s pretty awesome. No lie.

Work and more work :/

April 21, 2010

Hi all,
it’s been a while since my last post. I’ve been ridiculously busy this past two weeks. So just a couple updates. I lost my voice because I am a caller for the Tug of War event for April Reign. Tug of War here at B-W is different than most places. Instead of standing up, people dig pits in the sand and set up boards and lay down. It’s my job to yell at them and tell them to keep pulling or other said commands… I’m not a yeller by any means and now i sound like I have black lung and laryngitis. Oh wells.

I planned an event that is called Meet, Mingle, and Mocktails. The event is basically speed dating, getting to know people and get some mocktails as well. I had about 65 people show up, so I was thrilled that it went well.

Another event that is coming to a close is being held today. My Sociology class is having a banquet to present awards to the community partners that our class worked with all semester. So that should be very interesting at the least.

Lastly,
Papers, papers, and more papers. I have two large papers I need to finish by next week. A data analysis project also due next week, and….. another presentation? NOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
*bang head on desk*

It’s the price you pay for going to school. Ah higher education.

Please Fasten Seatbelts, It’s going to be a bumpy ride

April 13, 2010

I am glad that I am not the only person stressing out because the end of the school year is near…. I’ve been so scatterbrained and stressing that it’s probably not good for me.

So you’re asking, “David, Why are you so stressed?” Well, I am part of a selection board for my one class that gets to give out money to different organizations that need money. The really terrible thing is this, there are four groups, but only three can get money. So it was a very hard decision to pick who to give money to and who not to give money too. It makes me feel terrible. Next, well just papers in general. I despise paper writing, but whatever, it’s papers and it’s necessary. Lastly, I’m VP of Programming for Inter fraternity Council (governing body of Fraternities). My one event is coming up and I have been all over the place making sure everything is in line and everything is taken care of. I guess it’s kinda like them bridezillas on wedding day… ‘Cept I’m a man and not getting married. Lols…

So there you have it.
But, I have been able to relax a bit as well. I went to my GF’s formal, play some video games, and chillax (chilling and relaxing) with my Fraternity Brothers.

So just a pic. yay!

I also think Cornhole is a terrible game… Grrr.

Yay Mini-Break!

April 5, 2010

Hello readers,
It’s time for another installment of, “What David Does Dooo?”. Hmm, I guess that title isn’t as catchy as I thought. Oh wells.
So B-W gave students a small lil break for easter. Classes ended on Thursday and we won’t go back to class till Tuesday. Huzzah! I’m chilling at work and blogging, isn’t that pretty cool of a deal?
I spent the weekend doing a medley of different things.
First- Homework, yes there is homework, but it was just papers that I’m writing rough drafts for.
Second- family, I got the chance to hang at home, spend some quality time with the fam.
Third- Enjoy the weather, it was so nice outside that I went paintballing and other random things. A couple of guys from the Paintball club made their way out. It was a fun day of paintballing and a blast for all.

Sunshine :)

March 31, 2010

Hello all,
I have been quite busy these few days and haven’t gotten a chance to blog. I hope you all missed me with a deep burning passion. I had a few tests, some meetings for different organizations, and classes themselves. Anyways, when you’re busy working, sometimes you just have to stop and smell the roses. Granted the roses at school aren’t blooming quite yet, I went for a walk around Berea with my girlfriend. We walked to Coe Lake which is about oh 15 mins or so walking away. Coe Lake is this massive lake with trails and other nature-esqueness stuff. So we walked there, walked by our conservatory of music buildings, and then made our rounds back to campus. It was very relaxing to just go and walk around. I think that is one thing B-W has that is pretty cool. The metropark system is a system of several parks consisting of trails, lakes, ponds, etc. So get outside, it’s fun!

Programming is fun? Yes!

March 24, 2010

So, if you haven’t read yet, it’s been a busy week for all of us students. I feel that I have been quite busy this week as well. Yes it’s only Wednesday, but man, the things i would do for a nice nap. I already take at least one nap a day, it is what keeps me sane. Anyways, there are two events that I am putting on from my position of Vice President of Programming for Interfraternity Council. My first event is a paintball tournament that is open to all of the B-W campus. From my position of President on the Paintball Club, I have been able to work out a deal for students, and now able to work out pricing for a large scale paintball tournament. So I’m going around campus asking different organizations for co-sponsorship and their support. So far it’s been good. Just a ton of chains of command to go through. The other event that I am putting together is a large social for students. It is titled “Meet, Mingle, and Mocktails”. It’s a speeddating esque event in which people rotate seats and get to know people, really quick. So with both programs, it has been CRAZY!!!!! Hmm, I guess that’s why wedding planners get paid the big bucks? Not too sure.

Winding my head back on to my body

Its so pretty outside!

March 18, 2010

It has been an absolutely gorgeous week so fat. The sun is shining, there is no snow, the grass is green, and did I mention that the sun is out? I’ve been quite busy this week with a paper for my judicial processes class. I had this crazy notion over Winter break that I may want to go to Law school, hop out with a law degree, and save the world. So what better way to find out if I want to do law than take a law-esque class and see if I like it. Well ladies and ‘gents, guess what. It’s not what I’m feeling. I enjoy the class, but I am no where as gunho for case law and just working all the time dealing with cases. I’m the type of person that gets all antsy sitting down. I have to be out and doing something. So, at least I didn’t make it to law school and then realize it. It’s better to realize it early and go into what you like.

Sooo, what really drives me? I absolutely love working with people, I like solving problems, and the field of Criminal Justice and Criminology really interests me. I love wondering what makes this person do this crime or do this action. There is so many different ways to explain it, all are valid, but it comes back to full circle, and that is… Why?

So I’m currently grad school shopping. It is far more scary than undergrad school shopping. I’m looking at several schools and I need to take some graduate entrance tests.

So here’s to a beautiful day and me shopping for schools. Enjoy the weather.

Let’s Go Clubbing!!!!

March 15, 2010

Hey all,
let’s all go clubbing! And by clubbing I mean going to campus clubs and organizations. (Ha I got you :p)

Anyways, over the weekend, I got a lot of work done for my club and also participated in other clubs as well.

On Friday night, I went to the Cleveland Rock gym to meet up with some members of B-W’s Rock climbing Club. The last time I rock climbed was when I was in Jr. High and went to some team building camp outing. So it has been a while. Anyways, one of the members of the rock climbing club, Paul Fabek, was more than helpful with teaching me how to rock climb. We started off with basic things first, so we started easy with bouldering. Bouldering is essentially climbing without a rope. It’s Monday and my shoulders still hurt from climbing. I had a great time and it was just awesome to do something that I haven’t done in quite some time.
As always.. Pictar!
Photobucket

On Sunday, I made my way out to the Local paintball field that I frequent quite often. As President of B-W’s Paintball Club, I’ve been working hard trying to get the field to give discounts to students and members alike. Yesterday, I finally worked out a deal with the field and it is AWESOME!!! I worked out a deal that students can go paintballing for $35. It covers admission, paintball marker rental, mask, and paintballs. So I’m excited that I got that worked out and that the snow is finally gone as well. Paintball outings activate!

So here’s to clubs that gives us something new to try and to get involved in. Feel free to check B-Dub’s student life website and see if there are any clubs out there for you. If we don’t have it, start it.
