8 Days

April 29, 2010

So part of me wanted to put “Mile” as the second word in my title, but I fought the urge. I just thought I should share that with you.

Only a few more days until finals, and I can easily say I don’t feel horrendously stressed out. Yes, I have three finals, a paper, and a portfolio due, but either I think it’s going to be easy or my mind is deceiving me. But I’m gonna start preparing studying stuff tonight after I go to dinner at my boyfriend’s house and help him back up his computer because he’s a dork and messed it up. But I digress. I think that I have one of the more manageable schedules this semester despite the fact that I am taking a full credit load.

We just had a hall meeting last night about check out procedures, which is kind of scary. I’ve already taken a great majority of clothes home that I won’t be wearing in the next two weeks and my parents will be coming next week to take all of my stuff home. Oh. My. Goodness. It’s so weird. I don’t know what to expect going home for the summer. I hope it’s not as bad as I think it will be.

Oh… and random fact! I finally got Pokemon. So in addition to my semi-lack of motivation for studying, I have Pokemon Soul Silver to distract me. And this whole Pokewalker thing is ridiculously fun! Lol. XD

Alright….I will probably post again next week before it’s time to leave.

Good luck to everyone on finals!

Wow…We’re Almost Done

April 21, 2010

So, you guys. We only have eight more days of classes. I keep thinking about it and freaking out because it sucks. Because A) That means finals are in less than two weeks, B) We have to leave for the summer, C) I need to go summer job hunting.

Okay. So the last one is slightly optional because I got a job here on Campus at Registration and Records over the summer, which will help a lot, but the amount of money a spend at school definitely outweighs the amount of money I will be making over the summer here at school.

If there’s any advice that I can give you that will help your financial load in college at BW, it’s to watch your money on your Jacket Express. I know a lot of people who end up running out of money and having to ask their parents, or take a lot of money out of their own pocket to survive the last two or three weeks of school. I don’t know how I did it, but I still have over $900 left on my card. And the awesome thing is that however much money I have left on my card will go to my tuition for next year, which definitely helps out my family a lot.

But I’m kinda freaked out to be moving back home because I’ve been away for so long and moving back in with the parents and not being able to run off whenever I like, and now have to drive because nothing will be in walking distance anymore, will be difficult. But I’m definitely excited for next year because things seem to be going very well so far.

So I’m mixed about all this. I’ll come back in a few days and tell you how I feel then.

The Last 3.5 Week Stretch

April 12, 2010

I know it seems like a stretch just talking about the last 3 and a half week stretch of classes, but it is going to fly by. There is so much to do in this time. I’m gonna be hyper busy this last little bit that I hope that my time management skills are as good as I think they are. I have a huge project to work on, 2 papers, a portfolio, and three finals. So I figure if I get started now, I’ll have less to worry about it later. (Except maybe this group project, depending on how well my group mates work).

In addition to the academic stress, you can tell things are getting super tense between myself and my roommate. I’ve talked to a lot of people about it, and they said right about now is when people really start getting sick of each other. We never really got along to begin with, but we made some compromises that will hopefully get us through the rest of the year.

I don’t want it to be over, but things are winding down - or up, depending on how you think about it - and soon it will be summer. I long for the good weather and freedom to go golfing whenever.

Lovin’ the Sunshine…trying not to get sunburned.

April 1, 2010

Hey guys!!! So it’s our long holiday weekend! And it’s the perfect weekend to have a break because the weather is absolutely beautiful. I even got a little sunburn yesterday at golf practice. And I don’t really mind because it’s been so long since I’ve been able to wear shorts and a short sleeve shirt since forever.

However, even tho it is such a wonderful weekend, I still have a lot of homework to do. Sad. Face. :( I have two papers due Wednesday when we get back and then another paper and an exam on Thursday. So even tho I’ll be trying to relax and finally finish God of War 3, I still have a lot of work to due. My game plan: work as much as I can tonight and tomorrow night, and have the day to myself because I’m going golfing with my Dad Friday and Saturday.

So really, it’s just trying to find the balance between an awesomely relaxing weekend while still getting some important work done. Wish me luck and have a great weekend!

Looking Forward to the Long Weekend

March 29, 2010

After this past weekend, I need a good long break. We had our first golf tournament this weekend, and if you weren’t in Northeast Ohio, let me tell you about it in two simple words: cold and miserable. Yep. And I got to play golf in the cold rain. WOO!!! I love golf but it gets frustrating every once in a while.

But then there’s this weekend which is gonna be in the mid and upper 70s. I will be in heaven. Perfect golfing weather. Even though it’s Easter, I might squeeze in a couple rounds with my dad. Why not? Golf as much as I can while I can.

As for school, I have tons of stuff due after the Easter weekend. I have two papers due that Wednesday and an exam, so I have to get a head start on that. Which I will work on as much as I can this week while I’m still in school mode. I just need to get a little bit of motivation to do work, because it’ll take a huge burden off my shoulders. Advice for life right there.

Oh Good Video Games and Homework, How I Missed Thee

March 19, 2010

Okay, so I don’t really mean the homework part. But coming back from break, those kind of getting to the end of semester papers and projects are really coming up fast and the fact that I haven’t been working on them is kinda biting me in the butt.

For example: Next Friday I have a rough draft for an 8-10 page paper that my professor wants to be at least six pages so we have the bulk of the paper done. How much have I done? Hardly any research for it and absolutely no writing. Lol. XD So I’m going into overdrive this weekend with writing and research. Honestly, a week to write six or seven pages isn’t all that bad, especially with the weekend coming up. That’ll give me plenty of time to work on stuff.

The problem is…I have God of War 3. One of the best games ever, it just came out and I’ve had barely any of time to play it and really REALLY want to play. It’s one of the two games that’s been rated a 10 out of 10 (The other is Ocarina of Time, another amazing game). So…I have some choices to make. Wish me luck.

Spring Break in Florida!!

March 13, 2010

So…the women’s golf team went to Florida for spring break. Beautiful, sunny Florida, right? NOT.

It rained and rained during our golf tournament. Luckily Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday (Wed. being the first day of our tournament) were really nice with weather in mid to upper seventies. But then Thursday happened. It rained at times so hard that I couldn’t see where the ball was going. It also rained so hard that one of the greens flooded and had to delay play on that hole for a half hour. But did they suspend the tournament? NOPE. SO we got to get drenched.

When I took down my hair after the tournament, it seriously looked like I had just gotten out of the shower with my clothes on. Lol. One of our poor girls didn’t even have an umbrella or a cover for her clubs. It was lots of fun, let me tell you.

But actually, the whole vacation was a lot of fun. We went shopping at an outdoor mall that was ten times nicer than Crocker Park, and the International Mall, which was absolutely ridiculously awesome. And super expensive. We got to go to the beach, and even though it was chilly, it was still beautiful.

And what’s a vacation in Florida without lots of sunburn? Yep. Totally got my legs fried. Anyway, I hope everyone had an awesome spring break, and now to hurry up and do some homework that I didn’t do over break.

Spring Break Cometh

March 5, 2010

Hey guys. So that count down is less than an hour until it’s time to go home. My dad will soon be coming to pick me up and all my stuff is already packed and ready to go.

My mid term this morning was much easier than I expected, which was a wonderful relief. I was terrified going into it, but after studying and worrying so much about it, things worked out in my favor.

But Monday morning I will be leaving to Tampa, FL for a golf tournament! Beautiful, sunny Florida. Lol. Usually I’m here in Northeastern Ohio, and as much as I love it, it’s awesome to get away sometimes, especially to some place where it’s warm enough to play golf. I really hope that everyone has an awesome break.

Oh, and I feel like I packed way too much just to go home for a week. I don’t want to leave anything super expensive here, so I’m taking my TV and stuff home, which takes up a lot of space. I just feel totally overpacked. But then I’ll probably complain that I didn’t bring enough home. You know that feeling. Lol.

Alright everyone. Have a great break. Have fun, and if you don’t have anything to do, sleep is a wonderful alternative.

Midterms and Early Planning

March 2, 2010

So right now I really should be studying for my Government Midterm. Am I? Of course not. I’m trying to delay as much as possible. Good thing to do, I know. I’ll get back to it, I swear. I need to do well on this midterm. So I will. There.

Anyway, because I was procrastinating anyway, I found the class schedule for Fall semester of next year posted online. And so I already have my schedule for next semester! It’s great! Because I’m in the Honors Program, I get to register first, which means I pretty much get the classes that I pick. So as of right now I’m taking 16.5 credits and have a wonderful amount of time to relax. I get to sleep in, relax, only have two or three classes a day. Only one class on Friday. So I’m super excited.

Yeah, I’m one of those dorks who actually does something productive while attempting to procrastinate. But I’m really looking forward to next semester, because I know all of the professors I’m going to have and I’ve had a great time with them before, so Fall 2010 is going to rock!

Sometimes I think I think ahead too much. (Yes, that did make sense). And yes, now I’m going to go study. For a while. I promise.

Finally…Nice Weather!

February 22, 2010

So, the weather has been several degrees above freezing. And we all know what that means for Brooke Hamilton….GOLF!!! Well…considering there is still about a foot of snow on the ground, DRIVING RANGE!!!

Thank goodness for heating driving ranges. Because I was itching to get out there and swing a club again. So, I did. Since I live close by, I had my mom pick me up and take me to the driving range by our house that has heated stalls. It’s not even really very necessary, because once I started swinging, I got hot.

Quick side note: when I was practicing on Friday, there was a guy there who was 6 foot 8. Talk about feeling short.

But the spring season begins with our spring break trip to Tampa, FL, which is only two more weeks away. Which means midterms are next week. Which means that Brooke is feeling slightly unprepared for midterms because they snuck up on her because she’s been to busy watching anime. (But anime is awesome, so it’s been worth it)

But I’m trying to enjoy the weather while I can and practice, practice, practice. I have three months of missed playing that I have to make up for and be ready for the tournament. Wish me luck!
