Now that I’ve cooled off a bit I can tell this.
I had all the materials I needed for my audition on my computer. Namely, my music and my resume, my monologues had already been printed out. I would have dealt with this at school, but of course there is no ink in my printer, and those cartridges cost 25 more dollars than I can afford. Lets look at that analytically for a bit. A pen is ink, contained in plastic, and it costs 15 cents. An ink cartridge is also ink, contained in plastic, and it costs $25? Either it’s made of unicorn blood or we’re all getting screwed over.
Anyway, so it’s a couple hours before the audition and I’m attempting to print my material. I thought I had printed in my own house before. Apparently not.
End result: I don’t have the driver, and neither can I download it because my computer decides it would like to freeze every time. This wouldn’t have been such an issue if it weren’t for a few formatting problems. I could have just emailed it to my home computer if I didn’t have a ghetto word-processor called “Pages” that I made my resume on, and if I didn’t have an enormous PDF entitled “Hair, Piano Conductor’s score” that contained my music. Both files, of course, were non transferrable.
End end result: Me stream-of-consciousness monologue-berating my computer, my printer, drivers, word-processors, printer ink and threatening it in every way at the highest volume possible.
End end end result: Remaking the resume, finding a flashdrive, and printing it, one hour later.
End end end end result: Successful audition after a harrowing day!
