Involvement: The Back Bone of your College Experience…
September 10, 2009
So… It’s been a crazy week, usually I blog earlier than this
Anyways, let’s recap again…
This past Labor Day weekend, instead of being off and relaxing, I was laboring at Cedar Point Amusement park in Sandusky, Ohio (Only an hour away!!!!!!!!!!!) Anyways, as a fundraising option for my Fraternity, we were able to go and work for Cedar Point. It was very different. Cedar Point is a place I love going to ride roller coasters and thrill rides, but to work it? Well, it was kinda neat. I got to meet hundreds of students from other countries who go and work at cedar point, and people from all around the country who love Cedar Point so much they work there….
So I put in about 37 hours, in 3 Days…. It was a labor filled Labor day weekend… Lols.
So one thing I wanted to write about is this word that gets tossed around quite a bit when school shopping or comparing your school to another school. Involvement, what is there to do?
Well, Involvement is what makes your college experience even better. You get to build on life skills, network with tons of people, build long lasting friendships, and as the BW saying goes, “Making You a Well Rounded Person”
Let’s start with me first as an Example. I am part of Criminal Justice Club, Psychology Club, President of BW’s Paintball Club, and a proud Brother of Pi Lambda Phi Fraternity.
There are clubs and organizations that fit into your Career Field/pathway. For myself that would be the CRJ and the Psych Club.
There are Recreational clubs, mine being the Paintball club, but we also have rowing club, motocross club, racquetball club, just to name a few.
There are religious/spiritual clubs as well. There is the Newman student Organization, Campus Crusade for Christ, etc.
There is Greek Life which is another great way to get involved on Campus. Fraternities and Sororities are a great way to get involved on campus….
With all the clubs and organizations that I am part of on Campus, they all make me who I am, and in my personal opinion, makes me better than what I started with here at B-W.
So ending on some good advice. Get involved, get connected, get going…
